On Saturday, June 9, 2007 at 11 am, David and Libby Hall were received into the Catholic Church. Shown above (left to right) are Peter Davidson (David's sponsor's proxy), David, Deacon Charlie Clark, Fr. Phil Burger, Libby, Fr. Joseph Hilbert and Caroline (Libby's sponsor).
The Servants of the Lord Cell Group started Adoration at St. Augustine’s Church in Peru, N.Y. Pictured is the Cell Group, Fr. Alan and a friend of the Community. The photos of the General Gathering of the Brothers and Sisters of Charity remind us of our time on the “mountain top.” Now that we have been home again for a while we may find that we are already getting bogged down in the world. You know the saying our time at the gathering is “glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit”. Once we return home it’s “as it was in the beginning, is now and will be forever.” But looking back at that time not so long ago we can ask ourselves how are we doing with getting radical again? Are we still trying to bear the torch and be the light of Christ for others to follow? Have we made any changes that will help us live the life of simplicity better? Have we made a resolution to follow through on our commitment to prayer and our tithe to the community? The gathering was the start, but now is the time to follow through. If I can take his opportunity to offer a short witness from my own experience, I can say that the Lord was present to us and listening to our prayers during our stay at Little Portion. I prayed for the grace to live poverty better and guess what? Soon after I arrived home I discovered that the Lord had re-arranged things so that my life would be in line with living a life of poverty (not destitution, but a healthier dose of simplicity). I also caught quite a cold and used the opportunity to switch from coffee to tea (you might recall John Michaels comments on coffee drinking). I see these events as answers to prayers and I look forward to more in the near future. I hope you are discovering the answers to your prayers as you continue your walk with Jesus as a BSCD. Let us continue to look back upon our experience so that it may help us to carry forward the torch of faith.
