Have you ever wondered what it would be like to temporarily live in a monastery? Or have you just wanted to help a monastery as a place of spiritual retreat and inspiration in your more secular life? Either way, the Volunteer Monastic Program might be just right for you! Little Portion Hermitage is now accepting volunteers to share in, and help with our integrated monastic life. During this time you will live at the monastery. You will share in our common monastic prayer, manual work, and refreshing natural meals. You will even be able to sit in on some community meetings and teachings that are not private in nature. You receive more than you can on a weekend retreat, and be trained in valuable character building that will enrich you when you return to secular life. Who knows, some may even want to discern this way of life more seriously and become a monastic candidate? If you are interested please contact us at Little Portion Hermitage. You will need two letters of recommendation from qualified pastors or spiritual directors, and be in good enough health to participate in our daily schedule. Non Catholics find our ecumenical environment most supportive, though we have been asked not to practice Eucharistic intercommunion with non Catholics at this time. We accept individuals 18 or older, and willing to live according to our way of life while volunteering. Youth groups under 18 with chaperones are also welcome. We look forward to hearing from you!
